Two weeks in Huay Yang

I have not written anything here lately, mainly due to two things: - Being busy daytime and too tired at night - Worrying over our overall health situation What happened was that after Mathias got sick, I got sick too. I had a real pain in the tonsils and also an eye infection in one eye. Sten's cough just turned worse. To prevent this from being some bacteria infection just being passed round in the family, we decided to go to the Huay Yang nurse sponsored by the Farang Villagers. It turned out the nurse could not do much but asked us to go with the bus to Hua Hin "Bangkok Hospital" next day. So the weekly schedule turned out to be Monday . Just relaxing at home. Tuseday . Nurse taxi ride to hospital at 9.00 am. We missed the taxi back ( at 2 pm ) since Sten's doctors took too long. We both got ourselves goodiebags with medicines. It turned out Sten has pneumonia. Wednesday . Nurse taxi ride back to hospital (one way it is 1,5 hour) to do a check-up. Since S...

...på den sjunde dagen vilade han. "And he rested on the seventh day..."

Tomorrow is Sunday and we have been here almost a full week. So it turns out that whatever Sten might have had or what Mathias might have caught on the flight now has hit Axel (and perhaps myself). He came down with 39.1 degrees just before bedtime. He has been doing pretty fine all day. In the morning he swam in the pool for 35 minutes, just around and around. This means he must be able to swim 1000 meters (=1 kilometer). OK he had fins and googles on but did not paddle but did it "the frogway". Mathias is getting better from his fever, though he has been sleeping some in the morning and also in the afternoon. Sten is fine, yet coughing still. We should all go see a doctor tomorrow to get some prescribed medication. I am a little worried that it might be some bacteriainfections that just goes round and round in the family. Then it is me soon! I feel pretty ok now, no fever. So now there is another four weeks to go and looking at it I would assume there will be little...

Getting into old habits

Today is the fourth day here. Mathias has had a fever and has not been able to do much but stay inside and sleep. He might have caught the cold that Sten had before we left Sweden. So I and the kids have done what you would expect, just playing it a long. We did pool in the morning, Axel and I played some invented waterpolo game. "If you play it like that I will go tell DAAAD!" he shouted when I was doing same as he just had done, trying to score directly after being goaled without a proper "shootup". I love him so much! We had lunch at Kaew's (takeaway Khao Pad Gai to Mathias). She has two baby kittens, very sweet. So in the afternoon, it was inevitable that Sten would play "cat" (crawl on the floor saying meow). At home when we ask what he did at daycare, he often says "played cat with this friend or that friend ". I also bought tickets for New Years at Kaew's place. Last year we did a New Years bufé there that was good, drinks by ...

Winter scribblings from 2014/2015

Back in Huay Yang once again! Now we are visiting this small village for the third time. Last year I didn't get much posted except for some pictures from the market in Dan-Singh-Kohn and our house S4 in Jasmine village. This year might be better? Hoewever, I just now realize I forgot my camera charger and the connection cable. Packing this year was a bit more difficult than last year it seemed although I had one whole day for it! Axel was let to pack his handluggage on his own: The fake-leather jacket (Michael Jackson-wannabe), Quadrocopter, tablet, Minecraft magazines and a book about "The faboulous five". Anyway. Trip went fine. We left our house in Järfälla to go to Arlanda Airport at 7.00 am Sunday morning. Monday afternoon around 4 pm local time (10 am Swedish time) we hit the house here in Huay Yang. A 3-wheel scooter was waiting for us and the house is just the same type as we stayed in the first year, a PHA-house. 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, 1 livingroom with k...

Back to the Ban- Ban Huay Yang

Visiting Ban Huai Yang for the second time was exiting. We lived here so long so seeing everything again was like coming home. Here are just some pics from the latest couple of days... Axel at the market in Dan Singh Kohn Sten contemplating his next buy. On the "motoboppen"...

No more Hat Wanakorn

The day after visiting Black Mountain Water Park we had just about one week left. There were still things we hadn't done, like going with the little train to Hua Hin. Sunday morning by the pool was a little cloudy and we thought it cold (26 celcius?) so Mathias asked if we wanted to go to Ban Krut? Why of course! I did a quick packing and squeezed in the bottle for Sten and both kid's teddies just in case we wouldn' make it back the same night. We hopped in the motorbike and off we went. First stop was Thap Sakae, the little cute town a couple of miles south. We had lunch at the noodle soup bar like we did once before. The road from there was asfalted all the way and navigation was easy. The tablet-PC is really useful. We had downloaded offline maps from Google maps, and the GPS receiver showed where we were all the time. It turned out to be a much better road than the ones we are used to ride so the trip was fast. Almost there we saw a sign of a temple of some sort and t...

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

We have been busy these last couple of weeks. Saturday before Christmas we went to the market in Dan SingKohn right by the border to Burma (Myanmar). It was fun to see all the things they had that were quite different to the other markets around here. I got to pick out two necklaces and two small boxes as Christmas gifts. Mathias is hooked on sarongs (pa kao mah's) so he got yet another pair. The wrapping had the text "Longyi for Executives" which should fit be appropriate! However I am not sure executives back home would dare wearing them to work, that is yet to be found out... Sten had a good time, Axel did too. I bought two small gifts for them aswell, a xylophone for Sten and an egg for Axel that would crack when put into water and magically turn into a turtle. I would love to go back there but I don't think there will be time, and there is only so much space left in the suitcases... Christmas was  like any other day, except for the gifts exchanging. Luckil...

Experiencing Koh Tao

Last week we went to Koh Tao, not the whole family, just Mathias and me. Mathias knew about the trip but not the fact that I had booked diving classes for him. He was happy to find out that he got to take the PADI Open Water Diver Certificate once we got there. I stayed Sunday through Wednesday just to relax, snorkle and see the island of Koh Tao. Ann and Arnold came down from Cha-Am to take care of Axel and Sten in our house here in Huay Yang. We are ever so grateful to have this opportunity of having babysitters so close in this far away part of the world! Mathias stayed until Sunday the 16th to do a few more dives and get the PADI Advanced Open Water. Now we are both home again. We stayed at Sensi Paradise, a bungalow resort right by the Mae Haad beach and Master Diver's office. You might see some of the bungalows hidden by the green in the far end of this picture... or not. The thai people are good at not spoiling their country's beauty through careful architectural plann...
